Chief of Police Walter Ostrenga
Chief Ostrenga was hired in October of 2004. He is a graduate of the FBI Academy. Chief Ostrenga has 27 years of law enforcement experience prior to coming to Monona. His last position was Deputy Chief with the Northbrook, IL Police Dept.
Operations Lieutenant Frank Fenton
Lieutenant Fenton was hired in 1993 and came to us after beginning his career with the Wisconsin State Capitol Police. Lieutenant Fenton is in charge of the Patrol Division.
Detective Lieutenant Sara Deuman
Lieutenant Deuman was hired by the Monona Police Department in 1997. Lieutenant Deuman worked in the patrol division and served as the School Resource Officer prior to being promoted. Lieutenant Deuman is in charge of the Detective Division, Dispatch, Courts, Technology and the School Resource Officer.
Sergeant Curtis Wiegel
Sergeant Wiegel was hired in 2003. He began his career with the Baraboo Police Department. Sergeant Wiegel is one of two front line supervisors in the Patrol Division.
Sergeant Ryan Losby
Sergeant Losby was hired in 2004. He began his career with the Evansville Police Department. Sergeant Losby is one of two front line supervisors in the Patrol Division.
Community Resource Officer Jeremy Winge
Officer Winge was hired in 2002. He began his career with the Green County Sheriff's Department. Officer Winge was recently assigned to the newly created position of Community Resource Officer. This position will work closely with the needs of the citizens in the City of Monona to assist with reduction in crime, compliance with traffic laws and many other areas that will allow the citizens and businesses in the City of Monona to have a direct contact within the police department for specific issues that affect them.
School Resource Officer Shawn Fogeltanz
Officer Fogeltanz was hired by the Monona Police Department in 1997. He began working in law enforcement in 1992. Officer Fogeltanz was promoted to the School Resource Officer position in 2009.
Clerk of Courts Carol Hermsdorf
Clerk of Courts Hermsdorf was hired in 1995. She is in charge of all cases going to Municipal and County Court. This includes handling several thousand citations each year along with hundreds of criminal referrals.
