Monona Municipal Code Section 11-5-7(b) provides that if a person is found to have been habitually truant (absent for part or all of 5 or more days without excuse) they may to sentenced to one or more of the following penalties:

(a) their operating privilege (drivers license) can be suspended for not less than 30 days nor more than one year.

(b) they may be ordered to participate in counseling or a supervised work program, and the cost of that may be assessed against the person or the parents or both.

(c) they may be ordered to remain at home except during hours in which they are attending religious worship or school programs or when accompanied by a parent.

(d) their work permit may be revoked, denying them the right to employment.

(e) they may be ordered to attend school.

(f) they may be fined not more than $500 plus costs.

(g) they may be placed under formal or informal supervision.

(h) their parents may be ordered to participate in counseling at the parents’ expense.

(i) they may be ordered to comply with any other conditions reasonably relating to school attendance.
