The Monona Police Department, in conjunction with Citizen Observer, Inc. are working to help protect our children, property and livelihood.

Through the help of Citizen Observer, we are pleased to announce the creation of the Business Alert Network.  This tool will allow the Monona Police Department to notify you, the business community, when a public safety event happens that could affect your business.  With the Business Alert Network we can have information in your hands instantly through various means such as faxes, emails, cell phones, etc.

The information that will be sent out through this Alert Network will be valuable information such as crimes affecting specific businesses, trends, person’s wanted, abducted children, etc.  With this new tool we are excited to have another means of protecting our community and families.

The Monona Police Department and other area law enforcement agencies are joining this effort to help identify trends and criminals who chose to make victims from their poor decisions.

Monona Business Watch Program in ForceDear Monona Business Leader,

Recently the Monona Police Department signed a “Community Agreement” with a crime prevention company called Citizen Observer, Inc., based out of St. Paul, MN.  Members of the Monona business community approached our department to participate in this new and innovative project as numerous other Wisconsin communities are beginning to do the same.   Working in conjunction with Citizen Observer we are pleased to announce the creation of the Business Alert Network™.  This tool will allow the Monona Police Department to notify you, the business community, when a public safety event happens that could affect your business. With the Business Alert Network we can have information in your hands instantly through a variety of means.

We believe this program will enhance the Monona Business Watch Partnership to allow for quick distribution of alert information to your business. It does not replace the Business Watch Partnership.

To ensure that your business has immediate access to these alerts, we have automatically enrolled you in the Business Alert Network™. In order for the Business Alert Network™ to be a more effective service to you, we want to make sure that you receive only those alerts that are pertinent to your company.  Right now you are registered under the business category of “Other”. It is very important you update these business categories and the way you want to receive future alerts. This service is provided to your business at no cost, as a result of financial support being provided by local civic-minded businesses.

There are two ways to update your existing business profile. Please do one of the following:

  1. On the Internet go to www.citizenobserver.com/update and follow the instructions or;
  2. Answer the questions below and fax this back to 651-228-1280.  Staff at Citizen Observer will update your profile for you.

You should also know the following things about the Business Alert Network:

  • Only Law Enforcement can issue alerts.  We will be judicious in the use of this network and will only send information that is important for you to know.
  • Your name, email, and/or fax number will not be sold and will be kept confidential.
  • You can “opt out” by either logging on to CitizenObserver.com or calling them at 1-888-952-2200.
